Crossway Park Nursery caters for 2 - 4 year olds, and is registered to care for up to 40 children. The nursery is located in the centre of Caldicot, in a two-story, terraced building.
Our play spaces on both the ground and first floor are open plan, and we offer opportunities for exploratory play, role play, construction, age appropriate STEM activities, as well as activities that develop literacy, mathematical, physical and social and emotional skills.
Resources are a combination of loose parts, carefully selected authentic items to inspire creative thinking, and some more conventional resources that support and promote open ended play.

The Art Space
This is our dedicated art space on the ground floor where children can get messy and super creative! The space offers further opportunities for sensory and messy play, painting, junk box modelling, gluing and sticking, and crafting that supports and encourages creativity, personal expression, sensory processing, and also exercises and develops fine and gross motor skills.

The Relaxation Space
Our ground floor also boasts a forest themed relaxation space which is both tranquil and calm, complete with large rugs, blankets, books, floor cushions, ambient lighting, and relaxation sounds and music to enable children to take some time out and recharge, or just simply enjoy some quiet time during the nursery session.
Outside Learning
We have a large, secure, private outside play space for outdoor play activities located at the back of the nursery, and this is equipped with a mud kitchen, wooden gazebo and further resources to promote and encourage exploratory play.
Children have daily access to both our secure outside space and the local park, enabling them to exercise a wide range of skills and engage with nature, and they also have opportunities throughout the week to explore local woodland within Caldicot Castle Grounds, trips to the library and supermarkets, and they will also have access to and will help to develop our nursery planters that are located in the Caldicot Community Garden.

The Well Being Space
Our large open play room on the first floor is our designated Well Being space where children are encouraged to ‘get active’ and also participate in mindful activities to support their social and emotional development and personal well-being. Children can enjoy the gym equipment and exercise their physical skills, and also participate in group yoga and music and movement sessions, focused physical development sessions, including building our own obstacle courses, dance, and circle time games and activities.
Our Well Being space also has a forest/camping themed chill out zone where children rest after exercise, or sit and observe if they’re not quite ready to join in with the group activity, so there is something for everyone!
